CXK is a charity which delivers a range of services to empower young people and adults with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in employment, education, or training. CAREERS INFORMATION ADVICE AND GUIDANCE provides free, professional careers information, advice and guidance to help individuals make decisions about learning, training and work at any stage of their career or learning journey. The service is available to anyone aged 13 or over (to refer through ReferKent the individual must be aged 18 or over.) MAKING IT COUNT! NUMERACY PROGRAMME is a three-day, free numeracy course for individuals without Level 2 maths, designed to build confidence and basic mathematical skills, supporting employment opportunities and further education. CANTERBURY PATHWAYS (TO SKILLS) running until March 2025, helps Canterbury residents develop skills to re-enter the workforce. It offers one-to-one sessions and group workshops for unemployed or economically inactive individuals, career changers, and those returning to work, focusing on job market understanding and skill acquisition.

We work with and for young people (16-24 year olds) who have learning disabilities and or autism. Our 'Preparation for Employment Year' for those that need a little longer to transition to work and our 'Supported Internship Programme' supports young people into independence through sustainable employment. Help with completing application forms and cover letters. - Support with job searching, including setting up email addresses and registering with jobsites. - Brokering and seeking job vacancies. - Access to our online Employment Hub. - Signposting to training opportunities, including English, Maths and IT skills. - Signposting for advice and support with in-work benefits and volunteering. - Support and advice for you and your employer once in work. - Access to supported employment while retaining disability related benefits. We work with people to identify their hopes and aspirations, and what support they need to achieve them. A tailored action plan is developed to help measure progress along the way. Beam partners with Maidstone Borouh Council to remove the financial barriers that prevent service users from starting work (such as childcare, travel costs, and tech) and accessing the private rented sector (first month's rent, deposit, and a moving van.) They also provide wraparound caseworker support, empowering service users to find and secure their own jobs and properties. Every service user who finds a new home through Beam will receive 9 months of sustainment support from Beam's expert sustainment team.
