We provide free, confidential and impartial money advice and support to help new parents or soon-to-be parents that are struggling with their money and mental health. Clients will receive a dedicated specialist adviser who can support them to deal with any debts, manage their money better, maximise their income and improve their mental health and wellbeing. People can refer themselves to the project, or we can receive referrals from other agencies including community services, midwives, health visitors and children's services.

Maya's Community Support Centre

Description

Mayas has grown exponentially since last year. It all started with Maya’s Community Café last August. The café is often bursting at the seams. It’s where locals meet to share a coffee, to share problems and to support each other. Some just come to keep warm. Those who are lonely or isolated sometimes spend hours in the café. Hugs are free and plentiful. Rough sleepers come to charge phones, get a free meal and hope someone will wash their sleeping bag. Maya’s café is a safe space where people feel they belong. Maya’s Foodbank also operates here. We currently provide food for over 200 people a week. Customers are often signposted to other services or offered direct help where appropriate. The Ukrainian Hub also meets at the café. Help with job search, benefit queries and accommodation is offered to Ukrainian guests. We also run Maya’s FREE Shop which stocks recycled clothes, shoes, toys, bedding and household items. Provided customers don’t resell and only take what they need, they are welcome to take items completely free of charge. 50 people per hour visit the FREE shop during busy periods.

Making a Difference to Maidstone (MADM)

MADM is a local, independent charity supporting the homeless, those in addiction, socially isolated, disadvantaged and in crisis in Maidstone. MADM has an Outreach Centre in Maidstone where clients who are referred to us can come to discuss their issues, get food from The King's Pantry foodbank or be signposted to other assistance. We also offer volunteering opportunities.

Fusion Maidstone is a healthy living centre whose aim is to promote the health, education, recreational opportunity, self-improvement and community capacity of Park Wood and the wider Maidstone area. Our main area of charitable activity is the provision of advice, information, activities and training which is based around healthy living, bringing services and opportunity to local people. We offer access to to various NHS services including sexual health, weight loss, lifestyle, smoking cessation. We offer social inclusion groups including Golden Friends, coffee hour, knit & natter. We offer various craft groups, exercise classes, cooking classes and much more. We offer a free lunch on a Friday to those who are eligible, as well as a safe and warm space for people throughout the day. We have a friendly welcoming coffee shop and a full volunteer programme.

Homelessness Prevention Project (CANWK)

The Homelessness Prevention Project is part of Citizens Advice in North and West Kent. The project supports people facing actual and threatened homelessness and those at future risk. We work across North and West Kent and support local people in Gravesham, Dartford, Swanley, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge & Malling and Tunbridge Wells. There are lots of ways we can help people avoid homelessness and support people in housing crisis including: - Advise and support people facing homelessness - Support and represent people facing possession proceedings or eviction - Liaise and negotiate with landlords, housing associations and mortgage providers - Offer support with money management, debt, benefits and income maximisation - Help prevent a situation getting out of control and reaching crisis point

Beam

Beam supports individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness into employment and private rented sector housing. Beam partners with Maidstone council to remove the financial barriers that prevent service users from starting work (such as childcare, travel costs, and tech) and accessing the private rented sector (first month's rent, deposit, and a moving van.) They also provide wraparound caseworker support, empowering service users to find and secure their own jobs and properties. Every service user who finds a new home through Beam will receive 9 months of sustainment support from Beam's expert sustainment team.
