Description

We compete holistic assessments within the patient/client home environment. This is done through an informal conversation with the person(s) requiring support. We can support with benefit maximisation, advocacy or even support within the services offered through Age UK. We can also support clients/patients to access services within the wider sector, this could be care agencies, MDT, District Nurses, Kent Fire and Rescue Services's Safe and Well Offer, our team will support with as much or as little as they would like. Age UK is open 5 days per week.

We’re here to support individuals and their loved ones to live well with MS. Whether an individual as MS, or cares about someone who does, they can join our group to connect with other people from the community and share experiences. We don’t want anyone to face MS alone. We facilitate opportunities for people to meet face to face at a local support group and or access our online forums. There is an ever growing range of social media groups, blogs, forums and discussion groups where people with MS can share experiences and ask questions.

At The Romney Marsh Community Hub, we wish to help the health and wellbeing over the over 50’s. We support people in trying new experiences, meeting new people and have access to a range of services to keep people engaged and active within the local and surrounding communities. Whether people want to meet friends for a coffee or bite to eat, enjoy a hobby or interest with like-minded people or navigate your way through benefits and allowances, we are here to help. We have a range of different activities and friendly classes that they can try such as Pilates, Tai Chi, Yoga, Keep Fit or even our seated exercise class. We run a number of craft classes for those that wish to learn new skills or continue practicing skills they have. Our day service provides a place where older people can meet with others of a similar age group for friendship and social interaction. We can also provide transport to and from a client’s home to help. Our information and advice services are here to help and support people. Benefit checks may reveal they are entitled to more than what they thought, we can help with the paperwork and or help submit forms online for them if they struggle with this. Our information and advice is impartial, easy to digest and is offered freely. We offer a selection on home cooked meals prepared daily in our kitchen. People are welcome to enjoy these meals here with friends, or if preferred we can deliver direct to the customers door to have at home.

We help Carers to make a life of their own outside caring by providing quality care services offering peace of mind while they enjoy some time to themselves. We off a Short Breaks Service, which is an opportunity for Carers to step away from their caring role for a few hours each week, to enable them to recharge their batteries, get some sleep, or carry out the essential tasks of everyday living, whilst we also offer a pre-bookable replacement care to enable Carers to attend planned health appointments, and the treatments they need in order to stay well. We provide a Carer and Dementia Crisis Service which offers free, practical support, designed to prevent the breakdown of a caring situation that might otherwise lead to a hospital or care home admission. We also offer End of Life Care, which supports Carers at some of the most challenging times in their lives. We have a Dementia Outreach service with 1-1 support to families living with dementia. Our volunteer service helps carers and the people they care for by providing free, practical, emotional and companionship support, as well as expert advice, information and guidance.

Bright Shadow offers creative activities for those living with dementia and their loved ones across East Kent and Medway. Our offer includes Zest which is our regular weekly programme of creative sessions. These run on Tuesdays in Whitstable and Medway, and on Thursdays in Hythe and Deal. We offer a bespoke set of 1-1 sessions delivered by a professional artist for someone living with dementia in Kent for whom our regular sessions aren't the right fit. We can also offer additional short courses or projects (funding dependent).

We offer wellbeing activities which focus on mental and physical wellbeing, this includes activities such as armchair exercises, walking sports, swimming, arts & crafts and lots more. We also offer 1-1 companionship and wellbeing day centres and befriending services to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation We offer information and advice sessions, supporting our community to ensure they are accessing the right support, benefits, pension credits, attendance allowance, blue badge applications and much more.
