Description

We have facilitated peer support groups since 2014 and their success supporting individuals can be seen by the replication of groups from just Canterbury in 2014 to now the whole of East Kent. Welcoming anyone aged 16+, we support individuals with mental health problems to improve their wellbeing and help them live happier and healthier lives. No diagnosis is needed as a lot of our group conversations are based on prevention as well as managing mental health. Most of our services take the form of self-help groups, which are either “talking” or “doing” focused. Our groups run at various times of the day and at weekends to accommodate many people's lives. Check out our calendars on our website on each area page (Canterbury & Coastal, Thanet, Folkestone, Dover) for group days and times. We also have a number of online groups running on Zoom. Some examples of groups include but not limited to: Managing Depression, Peer Support Crisis Group (Sunday evening), IT Group, Creative Group and more. We are also the User Voice for Ashford, Canterbury & Coastal, Folkestone and Dover where individuals or groups can talk to us directly, stay anonymous, and give feedback about their experiences using services. "Whether you've used one organisation or a few, just sussing out support or used services / voluntary organisations for a while, let us know how it's been. Your experience will help decision makers to understand what works, what doesn’t and what could be improved. We want to hear your experiences and use them to help shape services and improve them for others". We aim to get in contact with new referrals within 2 business days.

Description

We're a Healthy Living Centre supporting the needs of adults and young people. We work across Gravesham on all sorts of projects - from free exercise to singing and mental health. Pop in and say hello. Our youth service GYG is based here too. The Grand was set-up in 2001 as a multi-partner agency working across the borough. Since then, we have established a successful youth service, helped hundreds of people get online and learn how to use the internet, assisted people in their search for a new job and helped people lose weight and quit smoking. We work with every secondary school in the borough, manage community events, run a community allotment, and have produced an annual youth performance at the Woodville theatre for the past 10 years. We work across Gravesham. Our base is at the Gravesend Methodist Church and many of our services are based here. But we also run our workshops and classes in different spaces and locations in the local area.
