Description
Become is a National Charity which support and assists children in care and care leavers to access their full legal rights and entitlements.
This is achieved via the below Become Services.
CARE ADVICE LINE: A national helpline providing information and advice to children in care, care leavers and adults supporting them. Care experienced young people up to age 27 can get in touch if they have any questions about their rights and entitlements (be it financial support, housing, education etc.) or if they just need someone to talk to about how they’re feeling. As well as providing short-term direct support, we signpost young people to the most relevant local service or agency for further support. The advice line is open from 10am-5pm, Monday-Friday and can be contacted free on 0800 023 2033 or by emailing advice@becomecharity.org.uk.
PROPEL: Our Propel website is a great resource for those considering further and higher education; it contains information about the support that’s available to care leavers at UK colleges and universities throughout the UK, plus advice on funding, applications and inspiring stories from other care-experienced students. At Become, we have a specialised education advisor who provides 1:1 support to care experienced young people supporting around education queries. To request support, call our Care Advice Line on 0800 023 2033 or email propel@becomecharity.org.uk.
COACHING AND 1:1 SUPPORT: Through coaching and 1:1 support sessions, we support care experienced young people (aged 16-27) to achieve their goals. Support is tailored to the needs of the young person and is currently carried out via phone or video. Coaching support initially lasts for 6 sessions, with the possibility of extension dependent on need. Individuals can self-refer by emailing engagement@becomecharity.org.uk or filling out the form here- https://www.becomecharity.org.uk/for-young-people/life-coaching/.
