Description

At Sports Connect we are delighted to run the Holiday Activity and Food programme during every major school holidays in partnership with KCC, The Education People and Kent Children and Young People organisations. Our focus is on sport, physical activity, and health sessions and these are held at both our Aylesford Bulls site in Aylesford near Maidstone (ME20 7DS) as well as The Appleyard Sports Club based in Sittingbourne (ME1 1QN). We have a timetable that encompasses some structured activities to aid development of learning the skills associated with the different activities as well as free time to allow children to explore their imagination and play.

Description

We support children, young people and adult's mental health and wellbeing along with those who have long term health conditions or are at risk of social isolation through fishing sessions. These sessions help build confidence, resilience, communication, decision making and problem solving skills. Our fish and chat session for adults runs from 10-2 with the final hour being spent sitting and chatting over tea and cake to make new friendships.

Become - The charity that supports children in care and care leavers

Description

Become is a National Charity which support and assists children in care and care leavers to access their full legal rights and entitlements. This is achieved via the below Become Services. CARE ADVICE LINE: A national helpline providing information and advice to children in care, care leavers and adults supporting them. Care experienced young people up to age 27 can get in touch if they have any questions about their rights and entitlements (be it financial support, housing, education etc.) or if they just need someone to talk to about how they’re feeling. As well as providing short-term direct support, we signpost young people to the most relevant local service or agency for further support. The advice line is open from 10am-5pm, Monday-Friday and can be contacted free on 0800 023 2033 or by emailing advice@becomecharity.org.uk. PROPEL: Our Propel website is a great resource for those considering further and higher education; it contains information about the support that’s available to care leavers at UK colleges and universities throughout the UK, plus advice on funding, applications and inspiring stories from other care-experienced students. At Become, we have a specialised education advisor who provides 1:1 support to care experienced young people supporting around education queries. To request support, call our Care Advice Line on 0800 023 2033 or email propel@becomecharity.org.uk. COACHING AND 1:1 SUPPORT: Through coaching and 1:1 support sessions, we support care experienced young people (aged 16-27) to achieve their goals. Support is tailored to the needs of the young person and is currently carried out via phone or video. Coaching support initially lasts for 6 sessions, with the possibility of extension dependent on need. There is currently a waiting list for this service. Participation – Opportunities for care-experienced young people to share their expertise and support Become to campaign for change in the care system. You can meet and work alongside others with lived experience of care to help shape our policy, research and communications work.
